"Dare to be Average" challenges New Zealand to confront its medicines access gap

Medicines New Zealand are challenging New Zealanders not to settle for below average when it comes to modern medicines access, with the launch of their new social and digital public awareness platform.

“Medicines access is a complex issue that affects all New Zealanders” says Dr Graeme Jarvis, CEO of Medicines New Zealand. “We want to make the conversation around it more transparent, relatable and easier for people to engage with. This new platform gives us the opportunity to do that.”

Dare to be Average highlights the stark reality that while internationally New Zealand prides itself on punching above its weight in many areas, our access to publicly funded medicines remains near the bottom of the pack among OECD countries.

“This platform is a place for New Zealanders to start having a critical conversation about this important aspect of our public health system”, says Dr Jarvis. “Our goal as a country should be to get the best health outcomes possible for New Zealanders by using the same modern medicines available in other OECD countries public health systems.”

Dare to be Average is now live on Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn and online at daretobeaverage.co.nz
